sThe team have been trying out Basic Impetus 2.0 and whilst we like what we see we felt that some areas needed improvement. Here we discuss the Cohesion Test which we felt just didn't sit right - specifically extreme results were possible (if we were reading the rules correctly and it seemed overly complicated). So we have provided a simpler alternative that additionally allows Units to recover cohesion and therefore VBU (even though we think this is unlikely to happen 19 times out of 20). So here we present (rather cheekily) Basic Impetus 4.0 QRS (it has a few other optional rules as well) and we invite comment - we fully appreciate that they might not work but our consensus is that they are sound. Tell us what you think: Missile Fire: MISSILE FIRE HIT RESULTS TEST Each hit causes either: 1st hit: Become Disordered (& temporary loss of one VBU) unless a General with the Unit. 2nd hit onwards: suffer one Cohesion Point up to the Unit’s original VBU (& temporary loss of one VBU per Cohesion Point lost). Note: if Unit is CP1 or FP ignore one Cohesion Point loss if shot at through the front or side facings. Melee: Results of Combat 1. A Unit loses a number of Cohesion Points equal to: - the difference in hits received - hits inflicted (use this test per flank contacted). 2. Become Disordered (& temporary loss of one VBU) unless a General is with the Unit. 3. A Unit loses a number of Cohesion Points equal to the difference in hits received - hits inflicted. 4. if Unit is CP1 or FP ignore one Cohesion Point loss if in contact with the enemy Unit through the front facing. Cohesion Points ( loss/recovery) A Cohesion Point lost is a temporary loss of VBU. A CP can be recovered the same way (but not at the same time) as recovering from Disorder. If a Unit VBU is reduced to zero by Cohesion Point loss it Routs. Quick Reference Sheet (below) ![]()
