Any or all are optional rules
German V2 Campaign Effective
If there is either no Major Port in Northern France or no hex of Germany controlled by the Allies (and not engaged) [US/British] from the first month of Winter ‘44 at the start of each Diplomacy Phase the Allied player rolls 1D6 as his Diplomatic Event and if a ‘1’ is rolled then they must sue for peace with the Axis player. The Allies retain Naval Supremacy and become a neutral Major Power, They may not carry out a DOW on the Axis. The Axis cannot carry out a DOW on the Allies but retain any territory under their control including Vichy France.
The A-Bomb
The Allied [US/British] A bomb is potentially available from June 1945 and is available if a ‘1’ is rolled on 1D6 each Production Phase. Additional bombs can be rolled for. An A-Bomb can be used within 6 hexes of a friendly major city. It eliminates all production permanently and rolls 3D6 against all enemy units in the hex at QF.
A True 3-payer Game
There is no change for the Axis Player
- Should the Soviets Mobilise then they are never classed as Allied and:
- May carry out DOW on any non-Soviet Country
- May not receive Lend-lease from the Allies
- Initiates Great Patriotic War if attacked by the Allies but not if in reverse
- May not use Allied co-operation in any way.
- Victory is determined the same except:
- If the Soviets or Allies control Berlin then Germany is defeated but neither Soviets or Allies have won (they have drawn) unless either has triple the Production of the other.
- The game will then continue if one player chooses by an immediate DOW on the other (if not already in effect).
- The game will then end when all Victory cities in Europe (excluding in the United Kingdom) are controlled by either side or Moscow is Allied-controlled.
A True 4-player Game
Version #1
There is only a change for the Axis Player.
- Italy becomes an Axis player and is not forced to join the German Player through Diplomatic Event.... but may choose to do so.
- Italy may use its Theatre HQ in the Front that it is in (it is no longer restricted to MedFront) at full effect and in another Front at half effect unless it has:-
- Malta basing in which case it can operate in full effect in both WestFront and MedFront
- If it is based in Suez then it has Suez basing and can operate at full effect in MedFront and EastFront (Southern Zone) and EastFront (excluding the Southern Zone) at half effect.
- It is not party to the Molitov Pact and is not restricted to it. Historically they attempted to supply the Finns during the Winter War, though the supplies were purposefully delayed by Germany until the end of the Winter War.
- A DoW on Germany & other Axis powers is not a DoW on Italy unless it has joined the Axis powers led by Germany by Diplomatic Event which can be done during any political phase. Conversely a DoW on Italy is not a DoW on the Axis powers led by Germany.
- If Italian production is doubled it gains a 2-step Supreme HQ (Comando Supremo) at zero strength in any Victory city. Should the production requirements be lost the HQ remains in play, but if destroyed it can never be rebuilt.
- If Italian production is trebled it gains a 2-step Battle HQ at zero strength in any Victory city or control port. Should the production requirements be lost the HQ remains in play, but if destroyed it can never be rebuilt.
- The Italian Supply source is Rome.
- In the order of play Italy goes last and it's blocks are deployed at right-angles to both the Axis powers led by Germany and the Soviets.
- Italian Air Power is dependent on the effectiveness of it's Theatre HQ. If at full effect in that Front then Italian Airpower is double fire and if at half effect then it is single fire.
- Italy cannot carry out a DoW on the Axis powers led by Germany unless any of the Axis powers led by Germany have already carried out a DoW on Italy.
- Should Italy invade any Minor Power in conjunction with any of the Axis powers led by Germany it retains all hexes occupied by Italian blocks at the time of the country surrendering. If it invades an Allied Major Power it does not gain any territory but may re-deploy at no cost to Friendly territory.
- Italian units may source supply via hexes though territory occupied/controlled by the Axis powers led by Germany and vice versa (unless a DoW has been declared by one party against the other).
Version #2
The Axis side now has 2 players. One controls OKW and all forces in the West & Med Fronts and the other OKH and all forces in East the East & North Fronts. Prior to EastFront being activated OKH controls all Forces with exclusion of Italy, Malta and MedFront.
The 5-Player Game
Use the 4-player Version #2 but with a Version #2 applying to the German player. Germany may take control of any Italian blocks in a Front, but must pay all production & maintenance costs for them (position them as all other non-Italian Axis blocks).
