Campaign Pack 1 — The Spartan Rebellion (332–329 BCE)

Greece & Aegean Theatre • Land & Naval • Company → Small Army Scale

Alternate Timeline: With Alexander dead at the Granicus, the Persian Empire stabilizes and counterattacks diplomatically. Agis III of Sparta launches a coordinated uprising backed by Persian satraps. Macedonian hold weakens, and the war spreads across the Peloponnese, Aegean islands, and into central Greece.

⚔️ Spartan Coalition Forces

Overall strength: ~16,000 men (multiple columns)

Core Spartan Army

  • 1,200 Spartan Hoplites (Elite) – Iron cuirass, round hoplon, long dory spear, xiphos sword
  • 2,400 Perioikoi Infantry (Trained) – Similar equipment, lower cohesion
  • 600 Skiritai Scouts (Experienced) – Javelins, short spear, light armor
  • 400 Psiloi (Militia) – Slingers & javelinmen with no armor

Allied Peloponnesian Forces

  • 2,000 Argive Hoplites (Trained) – Bronze cuirass, round shield, spear, short sword
  • 1,500 Arcadian Light Infantry (Militia) – Javelin, wicker shield, knife
  • 300 Thessalian Cavalry (Experienced) – Spear, light armor, small shield

Mercenary Elements

  • 1,000 Cretan Archers (Veteran) – Recurve bows, light tunics, daggers

  • 800 Cappadocian Cavalry (Veteran) – Armored horsemen with long spears

  • 2,500 Hoplites (Veteran) – Mixed origins: Phocaean, Ionian, Rhodian
  • 1,000 Ionian Peltasts (Experienced) – Spear, crescent shield, javelins

  • 50 Triremes & Pentekonters – Crewed by Phoenician & Rhodian sailors (Experienced)
  • Marines (500 total, Trained) – Short spears, shields, bowmen detachments

Overall strength: ~5,000–6,000 in fragmented garrisons

  • 1,000 Macedonian Phalangites (Experienced) – Sarissa pike, bronze cuirass, small shield
  • 1,200 Mercenary Hoplites (Trained) – Greek cities under Macedonian control
  • 800 Thessalian Cavalry (Veteran) – Still loyal to Antipater
  • 2,000 Local levies & militia – Garrison roles, city guards (Militia)

Use with DBA, Triumph!, Hail Caesar, Impetus or your preferred house rules. Base sizes and exact ratios are left flexible to suit your system, but troop quality guidelines allow for competitive or narrative setups.
